My source and/or destination directory is being changed. Why?
Some registry cleaning programs, e.g. Registry Healer, attempt to fix what it believes are invalid paths that are stored in the registry. When you use a path such as X:\Windows\Cursors then the registry cleaner incorrectly assumes you actually wanted C:\Windows\Cursors\ and it changes it.
In most programs of this type you can stop them from making these changes to certain parts of the registry. For example, to stop Registry Healer making the changes to SyncBack V3 freeware settings:
- Run Registry Healer
- Select Advanced -> Show the advanced settings dialog from the main menu
- Click the Invalid Paths item (under Excluded Registry Keys)
- Click the Add button on the right
- Enter \Software\MJLSoftware\SyncBack\ and click OK, enter any comment and click OKSyncBack V4.1 and later no longer use the registry so this solution does not apply.
