Can I use your software on Linux, UNIX, or Mac (OS/X) operating systems?
SyncBack is for Windows operating systems only.
Note that this does not mean they cannot be used with files and folders
that are stored on computers running non-Windows operating systems. For
example, SyncBackSE/Pro can copy files to and from files stored on
computers running Linux. This may rely on appropriate
installation & configuration of SMB (a.k.a. 'Samba') on the
non-Windows computer to achieve - not all versions of Samba are
compatible or bug-free. Search this Knowledge Base for either term for
SyncBack Touch is available for Windows, OS X and Android. It lets SyncBackPro and SyncBackSE copy files to and from another device, e.g. Windows, OS X or Android device. SyncBackFree cannot use SyncBack Touch. Simply install SyncBack Touch on the device you want to the access the files on and then create a profile in SyncBackPro/SE to use that device.
Another possibility is to use FTP (or SFTP - SyncBackPro only) to transfer the files. Some non-Windows operating systems may have FTP (etc) server functionality built-in already, and/or FTP (etc) server software can usually be installed on them. Bear in mind using FTP can have its own disadvantages whereby files are not stored with attributes that correctly match the Source copy and cannot be forced-set to achieve this. Search this Knowledge Base on 'ftp' (without the quotes) for more background. Search also on 'fast' for possible workarounds (SyncBackSE/Pro only - not applicable for SyncBack freeware).
